Edenville Dam fails causing flash flood conditions.
More than 2,500 homes, businesses and nonprofits were damaged or destroyed by the floods, with estimated losses of $175 million, said Mark Bone, chairman of the Midland County Board of Commissioners.
Gov. Gretchen Whitmer declared a state of emergency for Midland County on Tuesday following the breach of a dam and unprecedented flooding. The Tittabawassee River was at 30.54 feet at 9 p.m. Tuesday, May 19 and is expected to crest at 8 a.m. at 38 feet, more than 4 feet higher than the flood of 1986.
